you see I have read and heard a lot about various really cool things on the internet, and lets be real they are indeed very cool.
That is really not the point of what I am doing here. The point of what I am doing here is showing the internet as a whole what is good, bad and ugly about the current way we “standardize things” and how we can fix it.
There is also that normal thing I do where I am mad at someone, that current someone being Vercel but that is a side point we will get to later.
The main point(s) of these standards are listed below:
they suck at implimenting standards accross various browsers, which is one of the reason we hate on web devs, and lets be real it is not even their fault. The fault is in the hands of the browser developers for this one.
this precident was made when they released React, and same with Nextjs by Vercel. I am gonna be real they were both revolutionary in their own ways, but when it takes 10 minutes for a framer (React as a Graphical Design Service) website to load fully I begin to scratch my head and reach to cancel the stupid $20 a month I am paying for the monsterosity of a website.
this is one of those things we are not really supposed to talk about, and I apologize to the host of this website because google is gonna be mad about this one. Though it is true. When google went full “money evil ads” mode, they created a monster in their SEO and Analyics department, one that they then released on the internet. When I wanna make a simple 1 page website, I often find that 99% of that one page is now dedicated to the apropriate tags and metadata so it is indexed properly by the weird web crawlers google releases onto my site. This has spread into npm packages, vercel paid SEO plans, and framer claiming they build it right into their Service (sounds like a bribe to me)
i have a thing for the unique and the curious and the special. and in this day an age every god damn website look the exact god damn same. They are all slow and clunky, or they are fast and incomplete, or they are so full of ads and scripts I run a good ole
wgetcommand and read the raw html files because I hate it. This is one of those things that has been created on the internet that I, and many other people hate.
back when I was young, you went on to the internet and you found cool sites that did cool things and you could entertain yourself by simply fipping and scrolling thru the sites and looking at them, in the modern day this is actually very annoying as the more you scroll the more ads you see and the more information that you are giving to the people who own the website, or in the event that the website is not tracking you, the people who own and develop the browser that you are using.
this has to be the biggest thing that i have against the web, the massive network of monopolies that own the entire internet. It really does not matter who you blame. You could blame the cloud companies, GCP, AWS, DO and the others, but those companies are owned by other companies, Google, Amazon, and when you trace them all back to their roots all they really want is money. They host you content and I find sites hosted on cloudflare injected with an ads script That i did not put there, but they did so they can bill me for lots of money in the event my site becomes popular.
so based on what I have said here, you now know I am a fully biased internet hater who can not possibly write standards for the internet that are unbiased and fair for everyone. You are prolly right. What I can do though is maintain this site and we will work on them together.
I have a few ideas, like banning react, and reducing the use of javascript, maybe banning advertisements too. Though since they are good ideas they will likely be vetoed by the evil spirits who hate on the internet.
and with that awfixer is out.
